What is ARIS?
ARIS (Academic Research Institution in Sapporo) is a cardiovascular core laboratory specializing in cardiovascular analysis, primarily focusing on coronary artery disease. Preparations for its establishment began in October 2023, and it was officially launched in June 2024 as one of the divisions of the Sapporo Heart Center.
ARIS primarily conducts analyses such as quantitative coronary angiography (QCA) and intravascular imaging using IVUS and OCT. In addition to supporting clinical research at the Sapporo Cardiovascular Clinic and Asia Medical Group, the lab also accepts requests for cardiovascular imaging analysis from external institutions. Furthermore, ARIS collaborates with various companies to contribute to developing new medical technologies.

Message from the General Manager
"Do not treat the disease, treat the patient. We must never stop moving forward to cure diseases that cannot be treated today." These words, taught by my mentor, are a principle I hold dear as a clinician. Questions such as "Why?" and "How?" constantly arise in the clinical setting, and clinical research plays a critical role in finding those answers and advancing medical care. Throughout my career, I have been involved in numerous clinical studies, including multicenter registry research. I firmly believe that a cardiovascular core lab is indispensable for designing high-quality clinical research. Around the world, renowned core labs like CRF and CARDIALYSIS continue to generate pivotal data that drive the cardiology field forward. However, what about Japan?
ARIS was established to become Japan’s core lab, promote clinical research within the country, and disseminate clinical data from Japan to the world. By analyzing the vast data collected at the Sapporo Cardiovascular Clinic and Asia Medical Group through ARIS, we aim to elevate the quality of clinical research and share valuable insights globally. Additionally, as a cardiovascular core lab supporting domestic and international randomized control trials and large-scale multicenter registries, ARIS strives to provide high-quality analyses and contribute to developing evidence-based medicine.
To advance cardiovascular care, even by a small step, ARIS will not rest. Our goal is to become a cardiovascular core lab that fosters innovation and drives progress in cardiovascular medicine.
